DESCRIPTION:

This is a classroom video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches Adult CPR and AED use, and includes Adult Choking.

 

The Heartsaver CPR AED course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including:

  • Security Guards
  • Airline Personnel
  • Law Enforcement
  • Firefighters

 

It is also appropriate for lay rescuers who may have a need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.

 

Course length is approximately 4.5 hours, with skills testing by an American Heart Association instructor during the course.

What you need to do, to prepare for the class.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.  You will be practicing skills that require working on your knees, bending, standing, and lifting.  If you have any physical conditions that might prevent these activities, please tell me.  I may be able to adjust the equipment if you have back, knee or hip problems.  We will use powder free vinyl/nylon gloves.

 

We ask that you refrain from smoking until class is over.  Remove any lipstick and wash your hands before handling manikins.  Also refrain from eating while working with the manikins.  A barrier device well be available and should be used when directed.  In addition if you have any type of infectious disease, such as an upper respiratory infection or open scores on your mouth or hands, it is asked that you defer manikin practice until you are well.
