DESCRIPTION:

 

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course is a video-based, instructor-led course that provides

first responders with training in basic first aid and CPR AED procedures, including the first aid skills

recommended by OSHA.

 

This course covers:

  • First Aid Basics
  • Injury Emergencies
  • Adult CPR AED
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Environmental Emergencies
  • Adult Choking

 

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of workplace responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including:

  • Security and airline personnel
  • Camp Sounselors
  • Aerobics Teachers or Physical-Fitness Trainers
  • Teachers and Day-Dare Employees
  • Police and Firefighters
  • Individuals who simply want or need first-aid training

 

The instructor-led course is approximately 6 hours, with skills testing by an American Heart Association instructor during the course.

What you need to do, to prepare for the class.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.  You will be practicing skills that require working on your knees, bending, standing, and lifting.  If you have any physical conditions that might prevent these activities, please tell me.  I may be able to adjust the equipment if you have back, knee or hip problems.  We will use powder free vinyl/nylon gloves.

 

We ask that you refrain from smoking until class is over.  Remove any lipstick and wash your hands before handling manikins.  Also refrain from eating while working with the manikins.  A barrier device well be available and should be used when directed.  In addition if you have any type of infectious disease, such as an upper respiratory infection or open scores on your mouth or hands, it is asked that you defer manikin practice until you are well.
